Happy Birthday, Mommy!

I had a wonderful birthday. No party - just a nice dinner at home with the family. Christian did take the time to find a really special cake. It was from a hispanic bakery. He didn't quite know what he was buying since no one spoke English. So, it was a great culinary adventure. It was very delicious - kind of like a sponge cake soaked in pineapple juice/syrup perhaps? They put fruit on top that provided a really nice fresh element and a pleasing textural difference. A new friend got me thinking about making cheese so Christian got me a bunch of great books on cheese. Fun!
