We took a trip down to Austin to visit some friends. We went to the Austin Zoo and had a lot of nice, relaxing "hang out and play" time.
Our friends Colin and Colette from Spokane have been there for 6 years now and have a little boy who is 2 1/2 years old (and #2 on the way!). Clint played so nicely with our girls and shared everything so graciously. The sweetest moment, though, was how he said goodbye to Christian. At the zoo on Saturday, Christian and Clint had a lot of fun together and developed a nice bond. For some reason, Clint started calling Christian, "Grandpa". When we were preparing to leave on Sunday, I tried to hug Clint. He was a bit stiff (as you'd expect a 2 yr old to be) and it was mostly a pat on his back. When it was Christian's turn, though, Clint grabbed him around the neck and gave him a big kiss on the cheek and said, "Goodbye, Grandpa!" Ha ha! It was very cute.
These birds were too funny. It was a rooster fighting with a male peacock, but little did they know that they were duking it out in the bear cage!!! (The bears were visiting the vet or something - lucky birds)
We stayed at a hotel and brought a bunch of toys, books and movies to keep the girls entertained. Guess what their favorite toy was ..... the antiquated hotel phone!
We ended up getting the girls some children's air beds for the trip - princess themed of course. They LOVED sleeping on them. It was Erica's first time sleeping outside of her crib and she actually did great.
